DIY Fabric Bread Bag FREE Sewing Pattern 123imaginationalive.com

Christmas is the perfect time for giving homemade kitchen goodies! I love to bake homemade breads during this time of year. But those plastic bags sometimes don't reflect all of the love and joy that I put into my baking creations. So I love to give my breads in this easy to sew bread bag. And the best part it is FREE!

I normally slip this bag over the plastic protective bag I store the bread into.

This loaf was baked in a 8.5 inch x 4.5 inch pan.
Any pan smaller would work fine too.

You want to pick out a fun fabric that speak Christmas all the way! I chose this fun bell print.
Cut 2 15x8 inch pieces of fabric

You will want to fold one end over a 1/2 inch and press with your iron. Then over another 1/2 inch and press. You will do this to the tops of both pieces. This will create a hem on the top of your bread bag.

With right sides together you will stitch (starting at the top of already hemmed bag) down and around the bag remembering to back stitch when you start and when you finish.

Trim your corners to allow the bag to lay pretty!

I sew around the turned over hem all the way around. This produces a beautiful finished edge.

Turn your bag right side out and press to remove any unwanted wrinkles.

You can add ribbon or jute twine to secure. I added a little hand-stamped snowflake hang tag.

This will be your finished project. Now wouldn't anyone love to receive a beautiful bag full of homemade bread like this?

In this fast paced world it is nice to give something from the ♥.

You can freeze your bread ahead of time and wrap in the fabric bread bag the day you are going to give as a gift. They make great hostess gifts! Great for families! Add a box of cocoa and you are done!
* fully defrost your bread before placing in your bag.

So what kind of bread will you bake?

I have a suggestion,

or

Breads that require frosting are easy to give as gifts. Just give the frosting in a salad dressing container on the side!
