5 Little Things That Will Change Your Faith

Boy I have wanted to write this post for a VERY LONG TIME. I was cleaning our home this week and came across some of our kids toys and collectibles; it struck a chord in my heart and I knew it was time to share this with my readers.

5 LITTLE THINGS THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR FAITH

I suppose it was around September of 2002 when the Lord started showing me his faithfulness to our family like we had never seen. Our boys were 5 and 23 months when our little girl was born with heart disease. She was at her 4 day old well check visit and turned blue while the Dr. was giving her a check-up. She was rushed to the local hospital and there she spent the next 9 hours as over 20+ medical staff tried to get her stable enough to transport to a hospital in North Carolina.

I am going to share with you 5 things that the Lord taught me during the 35 days we were in the hospital with our daughter.

LESSON ONE~ GET OUT OF THE WAY

It is during those 9 hours I learned to get out of the way. Literally and spiritually. To literally take my hands off the situation and our little girl and watch as they frantically tried to keep her alive. I guess I could have reacted many different ways but I just prayed and waited. She was totally is the Lord's hands. I have heard so many stories about how moms'will say that they are praying for their kids and never see anything change in their lives. Or how a wife prays for her husband and sees no change. Here is a little nugget for the future.

Jello won't set if you are still stirring it. You have to take your hands off it and sit back and let it be. That is where faith is put to the test.

The Bible Teaches Us:
Proverbs 3: 5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

LESSON TWO~ PRAY BELIEVING HE WILL
                                                                                        tiny dollhouse hutch with dishes
Do you remember when you were at the end of yourself and you were drowning in your sin? Do you remember calling out to the Lord to SAVE you? When you really meant business with Him, He delivered! You did not have to beg Him or pray for years to save you. Well when you truly come humble in his presence and ask Him for something that you know you truly need. He will answer you. I do believe that in some cases you should pray about how to pray. Sometimes the Lord does not give us peace to pray certain ways. But also remember not much faith is needed to just pray "the Lord's will be done". Either way His will is accomplished. Pray expected CHANGE!
The Bible Teaches Us:
Matthew 21:22
And in all things, whatsover ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

LESSON THREE~ HIS PRESENCE IS KNOWN

During that time is was so obvious that He was there. He was is every decision, working through every Dr. and Nurse. He was is every procedure and all the things that were happening to our little girl at that time was being perfectly orchestrated by the God of Heaven. He was in the air, he was in the raindrops falling down, in the peacefulness that surround everyone. Yes! Peacefulness in the storm. He was so close and present even the air smelled different, it smelled like Him. Christian mother ONLY when you get out of the way, and you really turn your situation over to Him without hesitation, THEN will He show Himself in a MIGHTY way! He will be so present you will not have to wonder if He is there or not. Nobody that important enters into a situation and goes unnoticed.

The Bible Teaches Us:
John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

LESSON FOUR~ EXPECT CHANGE!

                                                                                                                                            mushrooms
Once you have determined in your heart that you have asked the Lord for something, made your request to the King, then start expecting something to change. Walk around and start looking for something in the situation to be different. We use to pray for our daughter constantly, for heart rhythms, pneumonia, vocal chord issues, the list was overwhelming. We already knew the Lord was going to let her survive but daily we prayed expecting changes to be seen. AND SEEN THEY WERE!  We would pray for numbers in her oxygen to rise and I would run down the hall and peek into her room and watch the monitors. The number would climb higher and we would rejoice with delight! He was truly answering ALL our prayers and we praised Him continually!

The Bible Teaches Us:
Joshua 6:20
So the people shouted when the priest blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat....

LESSON FIVE~ PRAISE HIM!

We did a lot of praising during that time. We have done even more since. I remember the first open heart surgery that our daughter had. She was 12 days old and the surgery lasted about 17.5 hours. We spent the day gathered around a piano in the Children's Hospital area praising the Lord. We sang and testified and shouted. We cried and laughed and expressed all sort of emotion. But the whole time the peace of God was so strong. It was like he was sitting right there. He never left us that day. It felt to me like a warm hug. It still does today.

The Bible Teaches Us:
Acts 16:25-26
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoner heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.

I leave you with this thought...
I hope this post will help someone in their faith. I pray it will allow you as a mother, grandmother, wife or friend to learn to seek Him and trust in him. Pray to Him and believe He will truly answer you. I pray that you may feel His presence and see the answered prayers in the little things all around you.
